Tampa Area Concerts and Events
The largest of the concert facilities is probably the Ford Amphitheater at the Florida State Fairgrounds. It is about a 30 minute drive from
Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club
It is the first outdoor, state-of-the-art concert facility of its kind serving the greater Tampa Bay Area. The Ford Amphitheatre features over 9,500 reserved seats under a one of a kind canopy and the General Admission Festival Lawn provides a unique open air concert experience for nearly 10,000 additional fans. The Ford Amphitheatre features top-name entertainers with excellent sound and sightlines, along with two video screens located on each side of the Main Stage and newly added, technology advanced LED screens on the Festival Lawn area. The Ford Amphitheatre offers something for everyone.
Ruth Eckerd Hall was nominated as one of the top five concert halls in the United States. It seats 2,180 people for concerts, plays and special events. It is noted for the amazing accoustically perfect chamber.
It is located off McMullen Booth Road. It may be a forty five minute drive from Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club (or possibly longer with delays) but it is well worth the trip.
It was dedicated in 1983 and has been home to many special events since.
This year's events include famous performers like: Jim Brickman, Anita Baker, Dave Koz, Chris Botti, John Tesh and Engelbert Humperdinck. Some of the theater productions include "Cats" and
"Spamalot." There are many other memorable events as well.
TBPAC is located downtown on a picturesque nine-acre site along the east bank of the Hillsborough River. As the largest performing arts complex south of the Kennedy Center, the 335,000 square-foot Center provides an environment for a wide variety of world-class events. It boasts one of the nation's leading Broadway series and is nationally respected for producing grand opera, as well as presenting a wide variety of concerts, performances and events.
Some of this year's events include Menopause the Musical, Jewtopia, and Hats (the cabaret series). There are dance performances by the America Indian Dance Theater and the Orlando Ballet. There are musical performances by the Florida Orchestra and the Tampa Bay Symphony. The African Children's choir will perform. This is just to mention a few of the events.
